Artist Doug Aitken (b.1968, U.S.A.) is celebrated for his genre-defying creations, seamlessly blending sculpture, film, and large-scale installations with architectural interventions. New Horizon, his mirrored hot air balloon, serves as a reflective, kinetic light sculpture that has traveled to iconic conservation sites, including Martha’s Vineyard, the Berkshires, and the Ozarks. The piece engages themes of conservation, community, and the evolving boundaries of art and creativity. TRIADIC brought New Horizon to FORMAT Festival 2022, integrating Aitken’s visionary work into the festival’s immersive landscape, where it became a dynamic focal point connecting art, nature, and technology.
